SHALL WE MEET AGAIN
by John McDonald
Charlo, Aug., 8, 1898
SHALL WE MEET AGAIN GY THE CHARLO'S SHORE
AND THE GRAND CASCAPEDIA'S WAVE
WILL WE PASS WHERE THE FLOW OF THE LIMPID NOUVELLE
MAGUASHA'S GREEN FOOT HILLS LAVE.
THE BILLOWS SHALL CURL INTO ICY FOAM
MID THE ROAR OF THE WINTERY SEA,
E'RE THE DAY CAN DAWN WHEN I'LL MEET HIM HERE
AND MY COMRADE RETURN TO ME.
BUT MID DISTANT SCENES, AND IN CROWDS, OR ALONE
OUR HEARTSTRINGS SHALL JOYFULLY THRILL,
AS WE YEARN FOR THE HOUR WHEN AGAIN WE'LL MEET
WITH A FERVOR WHICH SPACE CANNOT CHILL
AND THE MAID OF MAGUASHA OUR WITNESS SHALL BE
THAT OUR EYES WILL O'ER FLOW WITH DELIGHT
WHEN OUR HANDS ONCE AGAIN IN WARM WELCOME SHALL CLASP
WHILE THE SUN ON INCH ARRAN SHINES BRIGHT.
As sent to me by Carol Pellerier and she says
I found this in my Great Grandmother, (Ellen Henderson Connors) Scrapbook. She was the daughter of Sarah Diamond and John Henderson who were from Campbellton. They were married Dec 24, 1830 Addington Parish. Ellen was married to John Connors who was the son of David Connors and Mary Nelson Connors who are buried at the Athol House Cemetery.
Thanks Carol for sharing
